We shall overcome, one day.
We shall all have peace.
After watching a video of the death of Mr George Floyd, I am appalled and compelled to express my horror.
Like so many of you, I am hurting, sick, angry, crying and in pain.
And the saddest part.
I am not surprised at what happened to Mr George Floyd.

Racism is embedded in society.
Beneath my anger is sadness at yet another human loss of life.
When I am broken, sad and in shock, I pray. I meditate.
I call on the ancestors, my close friends and allies and ask for strength and guidance and courage.
Beneath the sadness, that still quiet voice rises.
That still quiet voice is the source of my strength.
My commitment to justice – to truth and belief that we shall overcome.
Not One Day.
But right now.
As we speak.
Broken-hearted and in pain.
We shall overcome.
Because that is what we do.
We acknowledge our pain.
Call it out.
Bang on the drum.
Clap the One Hand
And. We. Rise.
We overcome.
We build a better, just world.
We dig deep.
Look the world in the eye, make a stand, call it out.
And we rise.
Because that is what we do.
We overcome.
And we rise.
Keep rising, dear brothers and sistahs.
