Today is a special day. Stand up please, clap your hands and join me and sing Happy Birthday to my dad, the one and only…Mr Victor Howell…80 years young today!!! Yay!

And to celebrate my Dad’s birthday, here is a few words I penned to say “Happy Birthday”
Who Is My Dad?
Dad is my hero,
My protector
Eyes at the back of my head
And smiling arms to carry me through
Dad is my hero
The only man who I listen to, and even then he says I never listen to him
Dad is a story teller, a keeper of magic and Alice in Wonderland stories
A man who swears he single handed fought the Germans and sat and had tea with Dr Martin Luther King and
signed the Declaration of Independence; all before he reached his teens…
Dad has done it all, seen it, been there and worn the tee-shirt, yet he still cries when my girls call and say
“Hi Grand-papa how you doing…guess what we did today?”
Dad is one of a kind, old school, as we call it,
Full of traditional values and virtues that a man’s place is to guide, care and protect his family
A man, who although crippled with arthritis and a dodgy back still has the strength to pick me
up when I’m down and make me feel well again
Dad is a hero. A warrior-man. A man who came here, from sunny shores, a dream in his heart and my mother on his arm
A man who suffered unbearable racism, spitting in the face, stabbings in the back and crimes not right for one so noble and brave-
Yet, like so many he bore it all, his eyes on a higher prize
Dad is a hero, a dreamer, who still dreams of winning the lottery and taking mum away for a week or two, a man who always
stands up for what he believes, a man who gives his heart to his family and will fight any one who dares to cross his land and trouble his flock.
Dad is my dad and today daddy-o, I wanna say
I Love you and Thank You for all you do and joy you bring to mine and your family’s life.
