Do you believe there are things you should never start?
Maybe you have started something, and with hindsight, wish you never started!
I know I have!
So, when I saw this question “What five things you should never start?” on Quora, I had to answer it!
In case you’re not familiar Quora, I thought I’d share my answer here because I know you are interested in exploring philosophical questions.
So, here is my answer to the question, What five things should you never start?

Based on my life experience and journey of rebuilding my life from grief and loss, here’s my list
Things you should never start.
Giving up.
Never give up.
Keep going.
Keep moving.
Sometimes life throws you stink bombs and you feel like your back is against the wall and a gun at your head.
During these moments, find your breath, meditate, rest-awhile, rebuild your strength and focus.
And when you are ready, start again.
That’s the way to live a life worth living.
2. Hating yourself.
No matter what the world says about you, or how much dirt people throw at you, don’t give up and hate yourself.
That is not the solution.
Remember, we all make mistakes, we all have done things which with hindsight we wish we hadn’t.
That’s because we are human.
Humans make blunders.
Learn your lesson, honour your struggle and move on.
3. Listening to people who say your dreams are impossible.
Tell them to mind their own business, follow their dream and let you get on with your vision.
4. Ignoring your pain.
Pain – whether physical or emotional is your body’s way of letting you know something is wrong.
Listen to your body, seek professional advice as soon as possible.
Ignoring your short-term pain often leads to long term pain.
5. Neglecting your self-care.
There will be moments in your life when you don’t feel like getting up, having a shower, making your bed, eating and getting ready for your day.
You’re busy, work is stressful, and you’re going through a dark period.
All in all, life sucks.
During this time, remember self-care is essential, even if it’s just brushing your hair or your teeth, do it.
Self-care is linked to self-respect. Lose one, and the other starts to slip.
Conclusion.
Based on my life experience, five things I believe you should never start are:
Giving up,
hating yourself,
listening to people who say you can’t do it and your dream is impossible,
ignoring your pain,
and neglecting self-care.
If you have started these things, that’s OK.
Find a way to honour your struggle, breathe, learn your lesson and move on.
