The other day, a friend rang. She was moaning about how hard life was, about being 50 and life “passing her by”.
We had a nice long conversation, but her comments left me thinking how easy it is for us to get stuck in a rut.
Routine is good. Especially if you have children yet as my friend pointed out, there is a fine line between “having a routine” and just being “bored and stuck in a rut”.
So, if you feel stuck, bored and longing to make a change in your life, today’s post offers you seven simple steps to get your creative juices flowing and re-engage with your life.
How To Shift Your Energy
When you feel stuck in a rut, tired and frustrated it is easy to think your life will always be the same.
You can change your life. Here’s how.
One. Find a quiet space at home or at work away from your usual environment,
When you have settled,free flow your thoughts. Daydream and ask yourself, What If I…
Two. Let your imagination run riot.
Capture your thoughts and visions on paper. If drawing is your thing, sketch out your insights and thoughts. If you feel creative, go one step further and create a collage. For example, if you dream of living in a house by the sea, collect images of the waves, seagulls, seashells, cut out copies of the sort of house you want to live in.
Three. Talk about your dreams with friends who care and inspire you
Words have power. Combined with your thoughts on paper, your dreams will soon feel more tangible.
Four. Spend time nursing your dreams.
Your dreams are a reflection of your heart’s desire. The more time you spend nurturing, breathing life into your thoughts, it becomes easier for you to be inspired to take action. If it is a house by the sea you desire, spend time visiting local sea resorts, so you can smell the sea air and feel the difference that freshness makes to your energy.
Five. Enlist the help of a coach,
Sometimes you have to invest and ask for support of a coach or mentor to help you make a plan of action and keep your accountable.
Six. Celebrate and Give Thanks for your Success.
As you achieve each mini goal, throw a party and celebrate. Savour the pleasures of your success with friends and family. Go for a boat trip, have a meal at a top sea fare restaurant. The more you Give Thanks and celebrate every achievement, the easier it is for you to enjoy the journey and stay on track.
Seven. Look after your health.
A healthy constitution forms the foundation of success. Eat well, exercise regularly, have fun and relax. It takes time, physical effort, good will and lots of energy to live the life you desire.
