Bless you and welcome dear friends and thanks for visiting the calmest space online! I pray you are well and in good spirits. In today’s post, we continue, with Part 2 of our mini-guide series about the Sun Salutation – A Guide For Complete Beginners, and I share with you an Easy Seated Sun Salutation Exercise You Can Do At Your Desk To Boost Your Energy, especially if you feel exhausted and worn-out and “home time” feels a long way away.
Take a Seat and Enjoy Your Seated Sun Salutation.
Like the traditional Sun Salutation, there are many variations of the Seated Sun Salutation. The Seated version is good if you spend long periods of time sitting down working at a desk or computer. If you have have lower back ache, or reduced mobility and flexibility issues, then doing a few rounds of the Seated Sun Salutation will help to ease any aches and pains which build up during the day, which means you have more energy and vitality and find it easier to stay on top of your work.
Benefits Of Seated Sun Salutation
The Seated Sun Salutation gives you the main benefits of the more traditional Sun Salutation, plus as you are seated, it gives more support to your spine, eases the strain on your back and knees whilst still giving a good stretch and opening to your chest, back and shoulders, areas which are prone to aches and pains and stiffness from sitting down all day slouched over a desk.
Here is a video which gives clear instructions how to do a Seated Sun Salutation exercise.
As usual, before you undertake any yoga exercise, especially if you are new to the practice or have a medical condition, please check with your GP and where possible, learn Chair Yoga from a qualified Chair Yoga Teacher.
Take-Away Action And Summary
In today’s post I shared a seated variation of the Sun Salutation, which you can do at your desk to instantly boost your energy and ease the discomfort from sitting down for long periods of time working on your computer without going for a proper break.

Oh wow Ntathu, I've never heard of this before.
I've done some exercises for my back after I've been sitting in my chair too long and my gosh they work wonders. I would have never thought there was instant relief like that but I can see where this would work great too.
I watched the video and that does make good sense, those types of exercises sitting in your chair could definitely help restore some energy. I'm going to have to give this a try next time I need a boost.
Thank you so much for sharing this with us even though I've never done yoga in my life. Good to know!

Thank you for this Ntathu! When I get into computer work, I don't take my eyes off the screen or move my body nearly as frequently as I should. This was a lovely stretch and breathing break that eased the tension in my shoulders and upper back. I will put a reminder to do this several times a day on the side of my screen.
