Bless you dear friends and how are you and your loved ones ?
Today’s post is to give you a quick update about the greatest lessons in life I learnt over the summer.
Basically, life hit me a curve ball and once again, I realised how vulnerable I am, how precious life is and how important it is for me to listen to my body.
For the longest while I have been ignoring a gnawing back pain. I have “too much to do” and just disregard the stiffness and pain in my lower back.
This denial ended on Sunday 20 September 2015.
I woke and couldn’t move. My back had had enough and screamed out STOP.
So, I had to stop.
I cancelled yoga classes, put a couple pending projects on hold and rested.
There was nothing else I could do.
I tried to hurry my recovery and continue with my normal routine. But when I got home the ache and pain intensified and I knew the only way to recover fully was to stop and rest.
I pride myself on being mobile and flexible so to hobble and shuffle through my day, wasn’t easy.
My parents spent the summer visiting me and the girls, which was great fun.
On one occasion, my back was extremely tender and as I struggled to put on my shoes, dad came up to me, told me to sit down and leaned over to tie my shoe-laces.
Not easy.
Dad has arthritis in both hands. Yet, when he finish tying my laces, his face shone and he looked like he achieved his dream and could conquer the world.
8 weeks later, my back is waaaaay better.
I can now cut my toenails, stretch up to get items from the top shelf and freely swing my arms when walking.
The rest and consciously taking time out to replenish my core has done me good.
I am rested, strong enough to walk to the shops and back and keen to pick up and re-engage with work.
Spending all that time, resting and lying on my back has nourished and nurtured my core. I am thankful for the reminder re value of rest and taking time out to nurture my core.
Over the summer, I recorded a couple mini videos about how I felt living with back pain and what steps I took to heal. I will upload these videos onto my Youtube channel and share with you over the next few weeks.
Best of all, taking time out to tune in and rest, has allowed me to ask for support, spend time resting at home, and given me time and space as to how I wish to grow my business and share myself with the world.
The main change I wish to share now, is I’m going to set up a new website devoted to teaching you how to meditate and live fully in the now.
Having another website, will enable me to focus on making yoga inspires a more yoga based blog for people interested in yoga, whilst over on the new meditation website, I will deliver guided meditations and online meditation courses to help you learn how to experience the benefits of meditation. Naturally there will be overlap and as I receive love, inspiration and guidance will act accordingly.
I am still going to be writing and publishing books, and stay open to embrace opportunities as they arise.
Exhale. That’s it for now.
I am trying to practice what I preach and take mini relax & de-stress breaks during the day. I hope you are too.
Please stay tuned for more updates as they unfold.
I am excited and thankful for a strong and healthy body.
Thank you for being part of our growing circle of yogi love.
Namaste
