My Daily Morning Prayer Habit
Regular readers will know that prayer, yoga and meditation form the core of my early morning spiritual practice.
When it comes to prayer, depending what muse I am, I tend to either write my own prayers or dip into one of the many spiritual and inspirational books on my shelf.
These days, I’m drawn more and more to read prayers from The Gentle Weapon by Rebbe Nachman of Breslov, a gift from a dear yoga student.
I have a few personal issues going on which I’m working through and was touched by this morning’s prayer –Finding Good. If you are struggling with seeing the good and positive in others, I hope you gain clarity and peace as you read this prayer.
Finding Good
by Rebbe Nachman of Breslov
When I am confronted
with baseness and evil,
let all the bad
fall away before me.
let all the good and Godliness
that lies hidden
within everyone I meet
shine forth
and emerge
as a grand reflection
of beauty and light.
Isn’t that beautiful. Read it again and imagine how peaceful and serene our world would be if we saw the beauty and light in all.
Closing Thoughts
In yoga we are taught to see the good and beauty in all situations and to seek the higher ground, especially when in dispute with friends or neighbours. I hold my hands up and admit to finding it hard to see the good in some people. Seriously, you should see me when I have a bee in my bonnet and attached to things going “my way”. Not a pretty sight:)
Reading and meditating upon the prayer Finding Good, brought a sense of clarity, peace and serenity to my heart and that’s what I wish to share with you, simple ways you can weave yoga, meditation and prayer into your daily life to support you feel happier and live a more harmonious life.
Finally…
Feel free to share this week’s prayer with someone you care about. And as usual your comments and inspirations are always appreciated…just share your thought in the comment box below and brighten someone’s day.
