Continuing in our mini series of poems to Celebrate Women as part of International Women’s Day, Thursday March 8th, today’s poem – Dance Sister, is dedicated to all women recovering from a broken heart.
It is inspired by a delightful book of poems by Alice Walker – Hard Times Require Furious Dancing, which my eldest daughter gave me for my birthday.
Hard Times Require Furious Dancing-is one of the books I keep by my bedside and dip into whenever I am feeling low and need a reminder of my greatness and beauty. Ms Walker’s words always soothes and elevates my soul. Here’s my inspiration and tribute to all women recovering from a broken heart.
Dance as if your Soul depends on generating light
Dance beloved girlfriend
Dance and lead the show
..step to the right and step to the left
hold your head up high and watch the world step aside..
Keep dancing through the furious times, marvel as your broken heart is restored; your soul realigned and life rebalanced…..just keep dancing
let the world step to the left as you hold your head up high and dance your troubles away.
If you are recovering from a broken heart or in the throes of rebuilding your life after a divorce or separation, remember to hold onto your inner beauty and know how precious and marvellous you truly are.
Take care and feel free to forward today’s poem to your girlfriends on Twitter and Facebook and join in the celebrations over at Twitter on #WomansDay.
Have a beautiful day and if you enjoyed today’s post and wish to receive future postings as soon as I publish them, subscribe to my email list. Thank You!
