Have you spent time, money, energy to “fix yourself”, to mould yourself to society’s expectations and definitions of what you should do, think, believe and act?

Maybe you’ve forgotten the essence of who you are?
Your purpose, your gifts and contribution to the world?
You worry if you are “good enough”, “skinny” enough”, “pretty enough” – the “right shade of brown”.
For instance, I know I spent far too many years trying to find peace, connection and belonging, looking outside myself for that elusive moment of oneness.
Only to realise what I was seeking was already inside of me.
“I am whole. I am divine. I am a Goddess travelling this land”
All I had to do was let-go off the searching, stop projecting my needs for love, acceptance and security on to others, and go within.
To stop comparing myself to some mythical norm and start:
To embody what was already mine by birth, by being a human being in this world.
To express love, gratitude, joy at who I am.
To love the being in the mirror, and treat her with sacred care, love and delight.
To transcend the negative voice inside.
To step over the lack of positive representation of black women in the media and look around at the great loves in my life.
To make decisions from a place of fairness, not fear.
And have courage.
And trust that my presence is good enough.
So, dear gentle heart, if you are reading this and feel the vibe, remember:
“You are whole. You are divine. You are a Goddess travelling this land”
Together, we will continue the good fight as we take good care of ourselves, heal and (re)build our world with care, grace and loving-kindness.
