It’s hard to relax and calm your mind.
Especially, when you have a family to look after.
And work full time.
And if you don’t like your job, that sucks.
Life can feel like a constant merry go round, as you cling onto the handles, holding your breath, scared to let go, in case you fall and crumble to the ground.
I’ve been there.
Caught in the grip of darkness, wishing for comfort, longing for peace.
Nowadays, I am better.
I’ve found a way to relax and calm my mind.
And, in today’s post, I’d like to share with you, three simple ways you can relax and calm your mind.
Calm Tip#1: Exercise.
Find a physical activity you enjoy doing and make it part of your daily routine.
A strong body and a healthy mind are vital to ensure you function at your best.
There are numerous benefits gained from regular exercise. The more you exercise, the more oxygen is pumped around your body. The fitter and stronger you are, the more energy you have to do the things you enjoy.
Calm Tip #2: Say loving thoughts to yourself.
Take regular informal “Positive Speaking Breaks”. For example, whenever you find it hard to think and focus, pause what you are doing and, say to yourself, “I allow myself, time and space to breathe”.
Practice saying positive affirmations and repeating loving thoughts quietly to yourself. It helps to stop the mental chatter running in your mind. Here’s a list of 70 Affirmations I use as part of my daily practice . Have a look at them and then choose one which resonates with you and repeat it whenever you feel anxious.
Calm Tip #3: Smile and laugh often
A quick way to lighten your mood is to do this simple relaxation exercise:
- Pucker your lips as if you are going to kiss a young child, make a “mwah” sound and then smile.
Repeat this action three times.
You will feel more at ease in yourself and everyone is attracted to a happy smile.
